The bellringers' sponsored a tree at the Stoke Fleming Christmas Tree Festival. The theme, "The Bells", was inspired by the poem of the same name by Edgar Allen Poe. All sorts of "bells" were represented from "wedding bells" and "sleigh bells" to "bell tent", "bell buoy", "bathing belles" and "Tinkerbell"

The Devon Association of Bell Ringers is supporting a national campaign to recruit new Bell Ringers in time for Remembrance Sunday next year, the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. The nationwide target is 1400 new ringers, which is equivalent to the number of bell ringers who lost their lives in the Great War. Could you do your bit? It takes about a year for most people to learn to handle a bell competently so there is just enough time if you start now. Contact Tower Captain John Dietz

One of Stoke Fleming's new bells appeared in an article in The Times today. The article was about Whitechapel Bell Foundry and its plans for the future, but the photograph showed our bell being broken out of its mould in the foundry. You can just see the words "Stoke Fleming" in chalk on the outside.
